My writing journey
I'm Michelle France Wetherhead; and I've recently left a long career in finance to finish the novel I started fifteen years ago.
"The Less I Say" has lived in my head for a long time. In fact, it wasn't always called that; as the years have gone by it's been called so many things!
My writing is inspired by the people I meet, books I read, my own experiences and fears. I love stories that blur the line between romance and life stages/troubles, and that allow us to see parts of ourselves in the characters. I want my books to stay with my readers for their whole lives.
As well as fiction, I love to write poetry. You'll find some of that here too, alongside writing updates, competitions, and little glimpses of my life as a debut author. WELCOME!
What inspired The Less I Say
The seed of this book was planted years ago, after a dream I had. The seed then grew and I interwove the basic idea with the full story line
Small towns fascinate me, I come from one myself. The way everyone knows everyone, and yet somehow the most extraordinary things can happen and every single person has a story to tell. Community, Family; along with mid-life struggles, are what are at the heart of this first story.
I wanted to write a thriller with real emotional depth. A story about love, grief, and the choices we make when we're afraid, unsure and a little lost.
